Pest Database - Ant
Black Ant (Lasius Niger)
The Black Ant is found throughout Britain and will nest in gardens and around buildings often entering premises in search of food.
Primarily a nuisance pest, the Black Ant does not pose a significant threat to public health. It should be noted that their behaviour does not lead to the same degree of problems caused by dirtier insects such as cockroaches and flies.
Look Out For:
- visual sitings of adults;
- earth excavation around wall edges and paving slabs.
Control strategies by Attack Pest Control vary for different species of ant, however, due to the social behaviour of ants, the best chances of success are achieved with slow acting baits which may be transferred to the queen by foraging workers.
